Whitstable Twinning Association has lost one of its key contacts in its Family of Partnertowns. Throughout many years dear Britta Jorgensen welcomed various groups to Albertslund, organising the visits and finding hosts in her calm, friendly and personal way as Twinning Coordinator in Albertslund, Denmark.
She was a great Ambassador for Albertslund, the town she loved and promoted at home in the Council, and throughout Europe. Involved in links for many years, she spent more than ten years in the leading role organising excellent conferences and big visits from all the Partnertowns, as well travelling often to Whitstable and the other linked towns.
There were many memorable events, including staging a big Youth Camp and then the very successful Phoenix Performing Arts production of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Britta contributed ideas, helping to establish
a warm easy atmosphere amongst the groups and was a very generous host with her husband Flemming.
Whitstable pays tribute to Britta and gives thanks for all her work on behalf of Albertslund and our Family of Partnertowns. Our thoughts and condolences are with Flemming, her daughter Mette (who was also often in Whitstable), and all her family and friends.
