Sorry to mislead you, this is not a film review it is a report of a recent WTA social event. Thanks to Peter Banbury and his band of volunteers, we were allowed access to the museum in the evening. This gave us plenty of time to enjoy a brief look around before hearing about two key themes of the museum -Whitstable and the history of Diving and the Invicta railway engine.
The diving theme looked at how the industry began with salvaging old anchors and then developed towards more precious cargoes. It even involved blowing up the Russian fleet in the Crimean war. Amongst other things we learned that the divers managed to use dynamite underwater. Presumably health and safety were not around to offer advice.
The Invicta is well known but the Museum brings it to life with the stories of the people who came to Whitstable and made passenger rail travel a reality.
Hopefully this may have whetted your appetite and you will visit yourself. The galleries are changed regularly and there is something for everyone of any age.
